“2022 Chinese New-type Washing Product Development Conference” hosted by China Research Institute of Daily Chemical Industry and China Household Chemicals Industry Association was convened between August 2nd and August 4th, 2022 in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. Over 300 guests and representatives from across China attended the conference in the industry of new-type washing industry.
Geng Tao, President of China Research Institute of Daily Chemical Industry delivered his speech at the opening ceremony. Wang Wanxu, Board Chairman of China Household Chemicals Industry Association addressed at the ceremony too. Xiong Yiming also delivered the welcoming speech. He is the chairman of Guangdong Garcia Commodity Technology Co., Ltd., a special co-organizer of this meeting. A number of 14 guests gave academic presentation at the meeting, including the hot topics as product development of new-type washing products, market promotion, new-type raw materials as well as standards and regulations. As part of this meeting, “Dialogue on the High-quality Development of New-type Washing Products in China under the Background of Carbon Neutrality and Carbon Peaking” was warmly welcomed and praised. The above seven guests focused on the current situation and the trend of China’s new-type washing products and they conducted exchanges with the representatives on the spot. During the meeting, the awarding ceremony of “2022 Chinese New-type Washing Industry Star Award” was carried out. A total of 11 outstanding small and medium-sized enterprises in the Chinese new-type washing industry received this honor.

On July 8th, 2022, five ministries and commissions including Ministry of Industry and Information Technology introduced Guidelines on the High-quality Development of Light Industry During the Period of the “14th Five-Year Plan”. According to the Guidelines, China’s daily chemical industry would make breakthroughs in terms of “water soluble film and key formulation technology for functional laundry coagulant beads”; it would strengthen the product and brand cultivation regarding “concentrated washing products and washing and care products suitable for mother, child and the elderly”; it would also deepen the digital transformation concerning “the digital upgrading including research and development, formula and experience, digital simulation technology as regards overall plant design, technological process and layout as well as the continuously intelligent and effective production line of liquid detergent”; besides, it would accelerate the detailed guidelines on green and safe development in “replacing the production technologies with oil as the raw material with those with biological materials such as vegetable fat, microorganisms, fermented products”. The introduction of the Guidelines offers the direction for the sustainable development of the new-type washing product industry in China. All of the participants believe that China has now become a major producer and consumer of synthetic detergents in the world, with industry volume and technological innovation leading the world after this meeting. The emergence of new-type washing products, such as detergent beads, laundry tablets, hand washing tablets, and fragrance beads, has accelerated the process of concentration in our country’s detergent industry. The new-type washing products have become the fastest growing detergent category in our country, which greatly advances the diversification and differentiation process of our synthetic detergent industry. It helps China’s washing product industry to transform in a “concentrated, green and low-carbon” way.
